Goodby to a fellow blogger

Ben, of the blog An Older Texan Remembers, passed away last night of heart failure. I started reading his blog and commenting because of his comments on the Field Lab blog. He came over and read mine, and commented. I ended up feeling like a part of a group of mostly male Texan bloggers as we read and commented on each others observations on life. It has helped a lot as I felt more like I had someone to go see if/when I get back to the States. One of the things that happens when I hang out in a group of us who are not 20 any more. Some of us start passing over to the other side. I send Ben's family my best wishes, and as others said in comments, I hope his 2 cats find a loving home to continue the rest of their lives.

  1. Hi Shadowmoss. I've never posted but I've lurked a lot. I found your blog from Ben's blog and just wanted to say hi. I thought it was sweet how Ben took time to comment and reply to comments. Best wishes in your ongoing journey. It's been very interesting to read. I wish I had said the same to Ben instead of just being a lurker. Bel

  2. I will miss him, too.

My father had flu/cold like symptoms before his congested heart failure was diagnosed also. Heart trouble is not always chest pain radiating down the left arm. I wish the media and the medical community would put more emphasis on the flu/cold like symptoms it would save the lives of a lot of women or men with diabetes.

  4. I am sure he would be telling me that I am wasting too many tears on him and to move on with my life. He will be missed.

  5. "Ben's daughter Autumn is hosting a reception in Ben's honor on Tuesday, June 26 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Steven's Garden and Grill at 223 Depot Street in Mansfield, TX www.stevensgardenandgrill.com/ location."

Anyone going to it, through or near Houston, please email me at rsvpta at aol. Maybe we can get the poor orphans here, if they haven’t found a home in the next couple of days.

I don't think Ben would want them to be put to sleep and I haven't heard back from the No-Kill Shelters in the Mansfield area yet.

Let's make sure Ben's 'carpet sharks' have a Happy Ending.
