Is it Friday yet?

No? sigh. Yes, I had yesterday off work. I hope everyone had a good Independence Day. I stayed home and got a lot more caught up. I am to the point now that I'm starting to see blank spaces occasionally. I know that a 2 bedroom apartment full of stuff is more than I like to keep up with. Slowly more things are heading to the 'donate' pile.

Nothing special going on to write about. I'm working late shift today to cover a co-worker's vacation day. Paying bills - I get paid once a month on the 1st, or the 2nd this month - and budgeting so that I make it the rest of the way to the end of the pay period. It really is a lot easier to do that now that the vast majority of the debt is going away. I do need to contact the Realtor to see if the eviction letter went out to my tenant. I'll be glad when that house and it's debt are gone. I am blessed, though, I know, to be able to carry the low payment while this is all going down. A lot of folks ended up in much worse places financially than I with houses that wouldn't sell.

Think I'll spend the evening part of my shift looking for more places to send my resume. I'm out of touch with what is going on in the States as far as the job situation. Others say it is difficult to get a job even in Military contracting right now in the States. May need to widen my search. I want some place that I have more options in things to do, or at least a lot more money so I can save to not need a job. :)

  1. You are an American with a camera living and working in Honduras and you have nothing to write about? A picture of the streets and vegetation, descriptions of how the water runs in the gutter and even photos of how the paring down of things in your dwelling is going are of interest. I can think of long list of things I have questions about there.
You have lots to write about.

  2. Calling BS on me, huh? :)

Yeah, one of the reasons I need to get home is that I'm getting boring as well as bored. I'll try to do better.

  3. Your posts, especially when you are describing how things are in Honduras, are never boring. I love to compare what you see there to what I remember from visiting El Salvador in Nov. 1993. I really loved it there, but it was an eye opener for me.

  4. No, it is not Friday yet but it can be in your world. It may be hard to convince your boss, though.

  5. Gypsy: yeah, I should write more about what it is like down here. Sometimes I think I sound a bit(?) pompous when I do, though. I am one of the 1% down here. Since I am and come from working class folks back home, being one of the richest ones here makes me feel uncomfortable. Maybe a blog post in that...

DD: We got the ok to take up to 2 hours off tomorrow IF we use vacation time to do it. Since only 2 of us are covering the desk as it is, it would just mean leaving the other alone longer. Then again, it is a holiday for the vast majority of the folk here, so it shouldn't be too busy. I'll work and save my time.

  6. We lived in Baja Sur, Mexico for seven years voluntarily. We were part of the 1 percent there so I know how you feel. I came from dirt poor and managed to do well but still did not live or show wealth beyond what my neighbors had. I was considered wealthy just because I was a Norte Americano. It was very uncomfortable and I believe the major reason for leaving. Even that did not insulate us from the people like great wealth in the U.S. does. Just tell it like you see it. I'm still telling stories about our experiences there. People are people it's just that some live more fearfully than others.
By the way I never felt fear of the people and their authorities there like I do here.

  7. I was asking the same question because I wanted to get the heck out of Houston and thankfully did!

At least you have a JOB even if it is in Honduras.

  8. The word it’s means it is -always and forever, no exceptions. The spelling ‘its’ is a possessive pronoun without an apostrophe. It’s cold outside. The dog wagged its tail.
Just thought the author of such a fine blog should know.

  9. Ah, WG, if you notice I used 'it is' every place I could get by with it as I can never remember the rule. I applaud you for trying, but even with my best efforts my grammar is lame. My spelling is worse. If it wasn't for spell check I would not be able to write the majority of the 50 cent words I tend to use when I speak.
