Wednesday Work In Progress

As I started using up the yarn left over from a previous baby blanket I got a call. Seems that baby, now a young boy, is going to be a big brother. Mom has requested a hat to match the original blanket. I already had the preemie hat finished. I am making a bigger one with the yarn now. I'll probably send along both.

I need to change the pattern a bit. I am making it up as I go. I am starting at the top as if it was a toe up sock. I think I need to cast on fewer stitches to start and increase further along as the tops of the caps seems a bit too flat. Any suggestions?

  2. Sounds like you are keeping yourself busy, knitting I tried and no luck at all. But I can cook and read a book quite well.

  3. I do hats from the opposite direction. So my last round is usually 8 stitches, rarely 4, every other round is a decrease and I divide the hat in eighths to do my decreases. So if you reversed that...Hey I just went on Ravelry, take a look at these.

  4. Judy, thanks for the patterns. I had searched Ravelry before for patterns but didn't find those. I used Judy's Magic Cast On for a total of 8 stitches, then increased as in the second pattern. So far, so good. Hopefully I'll post the finished product next Wednesday. Not sure about this yarn I got a the thrift shop, though.

  5. I typed in 'top down hats', then went down the left side of the page and refine my search, clicking 'free' patterns, age, stuff like that, otherwise I'm overwhelmed with choices.

  6. I can't knit to save my life, I can crochet some things but not sweaters or socks. Just love those little hats your making

  7. I can not offer any suggestions as I do not have a crafty bone in my body.

With that said, they are beautiful and I am sure will be very much appreciated.
