Just when I think things are going ok

A kerfluffle in the works.  Nothing major, but request good thoughts.  I'm getting tired of how difficult all this work stuff gets over stupid things, but that is how it goes these days, I guess.  More push for me to just get rid of things and downsize again, this time to an RV.  Pondering retirement as a real option.  Not sure how realistic it is right now, but folks are living on less than I have.  Hope this is just a dip in a life that was starting to get settled in for once.  I have on 'good authority' that 'no one' will hire me because I'm 60yo now.  May have to test that opinion that was handed to me as a bald fact.  I'm just tired of the games.

Not one of my better posts.

  1. So things aren't getting any better at work. That is really too bad. Jim got hired at his last job at the age of 62. So I don't believe that crap about not being employable just cause you're not 20 or 30. May take a little longer but I really believe you could find something else.

  2. I agree with Sandie that age won't keep you from finding a job. Some employers realize that a mature person might have a better work ethic than the younger ones, although that isn't always the case. Go with the flow, and if you feel like retiring then do it.

  3. I am 68.95 now and keep on having to turn down job offers. It seems to depend more on the persons attitude than the age in my world. There are several younger and much younger folks in this campground that "can't find any work". Yeah right.

  4. Sorry that life is the pits right now. Finding how to make life work is a constant evolution. Some changes are choices some not. I'll be sending positive thoughts for you as you tackle the latest changes. :)

  5. My experience in finding a job as a "more mature person" was it is hard if the position is a 'career' path in the organization. I had good luck as a 'temp' with an agency. It fit my work goals at that time so if you are thinking about retirement that may be something to look for.
