Optimism springs eternal

I just booked flights to Kansas City over Labor Day.  I have great hopes that both Mom and I will be on those flights.  Mom just turned 89 last month.  We are in the middle of a pandemic.  But, I'm optimistic that on Labor Day weekend we will attend the wedding of a young cousin in a town north of Kansas City.  Both of us.

It also feels good to make plans for the future.  It is a bit depressing just how much of a difference it is making in the world with the majority of the people staying home.  Air is cleaner.  Swans are back in the canals in Venice.  I have money in my account and it is almost the middle of the month.

A meme I saw said "Is everyone else getting 3 weeks to the gallon of gas like I am now?"
